parts and puzzles of december

december had been quite good to me.

a good meal for birthday as usual.
since was back on the birthday itself, so i went for food hunt two days earlier.

an omakase meal of $68 at Kaiware.

 this is scallop

 assorted sashimi

 shishamo, which is an add-on

 chawanmushi with good ingredients

 this made the $68 worthy.
*dunno what fish was that, uni sushi, ikura sushi*

when i saw the bento i went jaw dropped. i was full after the sushi set. sincerely
smoked duck with rice, mentaiko cod fish fillet, nice soup.

last last, dessert. mochi with vanilla ice cream maybe?

it's Omakase meal, which means, the chef to decide.
so i didn't know what are the dishes before hand.
seems like i have trained my taste buds well. able to tell what are some of those foods by just tasting. like the scallop, the mentaiko cod fish *yeah, can even tell what type of fish is that =.= *, the smoked duck, and the soup base =.=

next up was the wedding of Zi Ning. haha bought my air ticket a year before. december is always the peak season, any wedding of that time must be informed much earlier to secure cheap ticket XD

so we decided to throw her a bridal shower.
as only me has to fly from singapore, we worked for the decorations via Whatsapp XD

and i m very proud to say that.....
the designs were by me!!!! XD printing was by Lynn after i had done designing and emailed her for the printing job.

the tassels , the background of the letters were by me too XD
i actually worked on it on the day before flying home till around 1+, and had not packed my stuffs yet. that was indeed crazy =.=

and funny thing is, i bought the balloons from Singapore too!!! haha! coz we were all working.. and it turned out to be that, it's easier for me to source out balloons than the rest even though we were all  still working. so Chin Mei bought the cupcakes and Lynn bought the crown, while me managed to grab a bottle of Bottega Rose Gold Pinot Nero Brut from Changi at the 11th hour :P
and the idea to tie the balloons on the chairs was super duper last minute. like after decorating the wall and arranging the cakes and champagne haha! and, thank God I'm an engineer. and engineer can really do wonders. the balloons couldn't be tied straight up initially. me n my brain, to make all stood straight up hahahaha!!
i kind of like that ;)

i was really like 疑神疑鬼 while waiting for the bride-to-be to reach, as the bridal shower was meant to be a surprise XD

mum was at home, so managed to get her to help us to get a shot =)

haha! the birthday celebration was a total surprise. they all actually forgotten initially. Zi Ning did remember, my, so amazing XD and she bought the cake.
so it was a double celebration ;)

21years and counting. love this shot ;)

thankful for them. one of my greatest blessings to have them =D

mm hmm.. friend said i won't have to be worried to be jobless in future. coz i... though being an engineer, i can be an event planner [kind of lousy one ??XD] and also an early childhood educator [cause have been in sunday school ministry for some years]. and yea, i somewhat agree to that. hahaha!

the day was two days after the bridal shower.

the cute guy, who joined the bridesmaids team! haha!

they've got cute pre wedding shots!!

the crash gate part in the morning was fun and funny with the groomsmen's participation. had a good belly-hurting laugh XD
the photo shooting near noon was fun too but kind of "oh my". even had heatstroke, which caused me to burn my original flight ticket back to singapore and had saline water injection at the hospital =.=
nonetheless, it's a very good memories!!!

the semester was kind of hectic, but i managed to survive. and got my first A- in NTU!! XD XD killed nine modules, only one A-, and that was a module under Civil Engineering. once again proved that my decision to be in management classes was wrong XD

Omakase Burger

am kind of easy and relax with current position.
would occasionally go around after work, since not so tiring. some more lunches are provided, so will get to have better dinner options if i go around.

was a friday night, wanted to go to Tangs Orchard to get something. then suddenly came across this Omakase burger on a web. so there i went =D

there are two outlets currently, one at The Grand Stand, which is inconvenient, and the other one at Wisma Atria, Orchard. Good good....

fresh lemonade. thumb up!

Omakase burger, medium well beef patty, french fries with Thai Chilli sauce dip.
french fries didn't go well with the dip. can choose the doneness of the beef as you like.

Thats the cheapest set of choice. the cheapest burger, cheapest drink, and cheapest french fries with a $1 add on for the dip, costed about $24 =.= =.=!!! but tasted good!

People swarmed in non-stop even near 830pm. it was so crowded that if four-seats table wasn't fully occupied, waitress would direct other customers to fill in.

Hope can try the other choices again some day! wait till when I'm not that broke like now XD

random hawker foods

always like this local dish of Singapore - fried hokkien prawn mee.
tried several stalls before , Old Airport Hawker Centre at Dakota; the one at Hong Lim Hawker Centre; still couldn't get the taste right. =/
found this Kim Hai Hokkien Mee at Circuit Hawker Centre, which been strongly recommended by some bloggers in Singapore.
not bad though. just wonder how does the main branch one taste like. but kinda far from my place. hmm..
but i will never ever like this kind of three layer porks. no matter which stall, the piggy taste is too strong =.=

Chinatown Hainanese Curry Chicken Rice at Maxwell Food Centre.
not much youngsters in the queue when i visited it.
i just randomly queued for it, as not much stalls were operating on Sunday.
i do like this. the sunny side up.. ngawwwww the well-marinated chicken cutlet *thumbs up*
curry sauce is good too ;)

5years plus

it's been 5years plus on and off away from home.
never thought that i would end up where i am now since i first left home.

grateful for where i am and what i am now

*****

abandoned here for quite some time.

had a sudden craving for sushi yesterday. so decided to have it alone, since the two girls were busy. i do enjoy the moment of being alone with fine foods!! so it's kind of like it's ok to be alone :P

it's a nice restaurant!!! chefs are all Japanese. customers consist of different nationalities such as Japanese, "Angmo-s", Koreans and more. so it's a very authentic Japanese restaurant =D
with the wide variety of foods, it definitely worths the price!!! blue plate S$1.80, yellow S$2.80, red $3.80, silver S$4.80, gold S$5.80 and black S$6.80, exclude GST.
the sushis are 100+1% very different from those franchise, which are, less of toppings more of sushi rice. this one the portions are just nice. half toppings half rice =)

as usual, blue plate --ebiko is the must :P
red plate -- crab paste+crab meat -- very nice!!! but quite fishy... i'm not a person who knows what's fishy what's not, but this is really fishy... the crab paste i mean.
then red plate dunno what fish name and also the silver one. the silver plate's fish is nice!!! ;D

raw oyster sushi -- gosh!!! these two elements just dont match!!! ewwwwwww need to drink N rounds of green tea to wash off that taste

shop's specialty. so so lor......

there you go, my new favourite!!!!! TORO!!!!! first time tried toro in my life!! restaurants in malaysia have salmon as main fish dish.. hehehehe salmon can really hide elsewhere with the presence of toro. XD XD

sea salt caramel ice cream!!
wanted to order their sakura ice cream, but but but it seems like it's seasonal.... awwwwww
anyway, sea salt caramel is nice too!! =DD

i had 9plates on my own!!!! exclude two plates for ice cream and green tea.

wish i could have gold and black plates next round :P :P

iChef Cuisine

it's been a long time since i last had fine foods.

thanks to Groupon Malaysia, and i'm able to try a nice place with good bargain of price =P

Rm45 for two, include a braised lamb shank, grilled salmon, garden salad and mushroom soup, drinks were excluded.

i personally prefer Belia Italia's mushroom soup. still think that no one can have a better one than it =P

i like the mashed potato underneath the salmon.

also served with mashed potato

overall the foods are quite ok.. iChef Cuisine serves both oriental and western foods. but price is no joke high lol

sept ends.....

alright, one last post before september really ended. yay i'm on time!=P

i didnt really update much about my last hols..
so... one shot and here u go.

*warning! before you really scroll down and read, make sure you dont read with empty stomach. read at own risk.*

end of june, the same gang visited Lok Garden at Batu Lintang. best for seafoods worth for the price.

too bad we didnt get someone to help take a group photos.

the girls... prettiest in kch XD XD

the guys.....
yeah... actually i think only me, lynn and carol wanted to eat so badly, so we dragged whoever we can get, esp the guys. aha~

沙巴油菜. i dunno what's its name in english.

排骨王. if really wanna direct translate it, it'd be "pork rib king" XD

mango fish. it's 石斑 if not mistaken.

and the leading character of the night!!!! 蚝煎!!! fried oysters? lol

super worthwhile. 8 of us ate til pushed the dishes here and there and each of us only has to pay around rm20 XD
i miss it............ hmm

early of July.....

carol wanted to go Tomoe so badly.... so......

my pig's bento
one of the sashimi tasted bad...@@

ah chuan's fried rice

big boss eating...... dont kepo......

me and my grilled mackerel set. carol and ah chuan so funny. i didnt know mackerel has so many bones... so i had to pick them all out one by one before eating. the two saw my facial expression was so serious that they tried to take the pic of me picking the bones but always failed. muahahaha

carol's sushi set...

ebiko. a must have no matter where i go... Tomoe has a special way of rolling ebiko. from the pic you might see that the fish roes were like just being sprinkled on the top but it wasnt! the whole column is fish roes. haha

okonomiyaki. japanese pizza.

this round only four of us...
overall, i think the quality isnt as good as before....

and then.....

carol has this 30% discount from Wow book on The Tarot Salmon, so we had our dinner there =)

ah chuan's sashimi mori zen.

ebiko again.... surprisingly ebiko is one of the must have for carol too =D

chinmei's salmon maki set.

jessica's chicken teriyaki don

carol's chirashi don

my unagi udon. i didnt know what to eat so i ordered this. it turns out a bit @@ the egg there is completely raw. the soup isnt hot enough to have the egg a bit more cooked. in the end i scooped the egg out and didnt finish the bowl of unagi udon. unagi in soup isnt a good idea zzz

okonomiyaki again... haha!

five this time. left to right : chinmei, me, ah chuan aka big boss, carol, jessica...

overall, not too bad. the sashimi is cheap... the sushis.... look isnt tat good as others. can be improved i believe.

we actually planned to gather weekly, but sadly... not all can make it...
will we going to see carol again next year this time?

and then........
for lynn's birthday!=D
this was earlier than the gathering at tarot salmon.

we went Sanga, again... hahaha..

chinmei's salmon don.

lynn's sushi. again, the ebiko was mine XD

my unagi set =))

napoleon choc from Tom's.

overall.. among so many affordable japanese restaurant i'd visited, i still prefer Sanga =P

are you drolling? haha!

last but not least....

Bella Italia again!
i've lost the count of visitations to Bella Italia XD
this time is our supper actly.. hahaha
first time had fine foods as supper...@@

chicken soup. RM8
tomato based, with chicken, vegetables and mushroom. i gonna use McD's slogan, "i'm lovin' it!!!" sorry McD xD

my pig's spaghetti con cozzi
with asparagus, green pepper and mussels.

and my short tube mamma mia RM14
originally is linguine but i changed it to short tube, didnt feel like eating linguine that time
nice sauce, just kinda spicy =)
